Whether you are hiking, camping or going on a longer journey, you want to plan your drinking water supply carefully. membraclean H2O Trekking & Survival combines water treatment on the move with drinking water storage at home. It adds a silver-free water disinfection product to your equipment.
Preparing drinking water for your trip
When trekking or camping, the nearest water supply is not always close by. Water is carried, transferred and stored in containers. The source, the container and the intended use all need to be considered together.
membraclean H2O Trekking & Survival treats microbial contamination in water. Use the product for the outdoor and water storage applications described in the instructions for use. This makes water hygiene part of your planning before you set off.
Small containers for your rucksack
The 250 ml bottle fits into your personal trekking kit and is suitable for smaller volumes of water. The 1 litre container provides a larger supply for longer stays, camping and several people.
Choose according to the length of your trip and the amount of water you want to treat. With multipacks, you can open individual containers one at a time and carry or store the rest unopened.
A drinking water reserve at home
A prepared water reserve is also useful when the regular supply is temporarily interrupted. This includes technical faults, power cuts and other emergencies.
To build up a reserve, fill suitable drinking water containers with water from a safe source. membraclean H2O Trekking & Survival is used for the initial treatment and subsequent re-treatment described in the instructions. Our instructions for use explain both steps.
Planning how much product you need
Coverage depends on the application. At 2 ml per litre of water, 1 litre of product treats up to 500 litres. At 10 ml per litre, the same quantity treats up to 100 litres of water.
For each item in the shop, you will find the container size, total contents and treatment capacity. This lets you calculate what you need for your trip or reserve rather than choosing by bottle size alone.
Choosing the right water source
For your reserve, use water from a source that is free from chemical hazards. Remove visible suspended particles with suitable pre-filtration before disinfection.
Water disinfection does not remove dissolved chemicals, heavy metals, fuels or radioactive substances. If you suspect contamination of this kind, use a different drinking water source and follow official guidance. This is especially important after flooding or an industrial accident.
Silver-free treatment made in Germany
membraclean H2O Trekking & Survival contains neither silver nor silver ions. Its active substance is active chlorine released from hypochlorous acid. The product is made in Germany and registered for product type PT 5.
Store the container in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight. When delivered, the unopened product has a shelf life of at least 18 months. Once opened, use it within 6 months and observe the date on the label.
