Effective disinfection starts with the active substance. In membraclean, this is active chlorine released from hypochlorous acid. It tackles microorganisms and forms the basis of our drinking water treatment and disinfection products.

What active chlorine means

Active chlorine describes the chlorine content available for disinfection. In an aqueous solution, its chemical form depends on factors including the pH. Hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite are in equilibrium with one another.

The term alone does not tell you how to use a finished product. Our product ranges combine the active substance with an application suited to the intended use. That is why we offer separate products for drinking water, surfaces and cold fogging.

Hypochlorous acid as a nature-identical active substance

Hypochlorous acid also occurs in the human body. White blood cells produce it as part of the body's immune defence. This is the origin of our guiding principle, 'Learning from nature'.

With membraclean, we use this nature-identical active substance for disinfection. It acts against bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores. The stabilised formulation and ease of use underpin our product ranges.

Made from water and salt

We manufacture membraclean in Germany using an electrolytic process. The ingredients are drinking water, high-purity salt and electricity. The process produces the disinfecting active substance from these starting materials.

Our drinking water treatment and disinfection products contain no alcohol, silver, or added fragrances or preservatives. The product information lists the composition of active chlorine, sodium chloride and water.

How the active substance tackles microorganisms

Hypochlorous acid acts through oxidation, attacking components of microorganisms. This disrupts vital processes and inactivates germs. Its broad spectrum of activity makes it suitable for a variety of disinfection tasks.

What matters to you is the result where you use it: hygienically treated drinking water, tackling germs on surfaces, or disinfection by cold fogging. Our activity table provides a clear comparison of the pathogen groups covered.

Choosing the product range for your application

For mobile water systems, use our drinking water products for camping, motorhomes and marine applications. 'Tierisch Gut' is our range for pets and livestock. membraclean TD is fed into drinking water installations through dosing systems.

Our ready-to-use surface disinfectant is available for surfaces that can be treated with moisture. membraclean AIR is designed for cold fogging and odour removal. For targeted system disinfection, use our drinking water pipe and tank disinfectant.

Maintaining effectiveness during storage

Store membraclean in a cool, dark place, protected from direct sunlight. Product-specific shelf life information is shown on the label. This keeps your product ready for its next use.
